St. Patty's Day & Cousins Visit!!!

Wow...I am seriously behind on my blogage!!!! (Yes, new word. I created just now with the help of my coffee.) Anyway, a couple of weeks ago my Aunt Jill, Cousin Ali and her boyfriend Justin stopped by on their way to see the SCC Blackhawks play at nationals in Hutch. It was the first time they got to meet little Isaac!!! We were treated to some Hu-Hot, Isaac's first restaurant :), which he slept peacefully through the entire evening. They all stopped by the next morning before they left for Hutch and Ali helped dress him for St. Patty's Day :)

Long Time No Blog...

For those of you loyal readers, I apologize that I haven't written or posted any pics in a while (ok, so perhaps a week and a half is not so bad)! Things have been insanely crazy between teaching lessons, having playdates and helping with the Easter cantata at our church. We were very thankful to have some beautiful weather last week, and enjoyed some fun play dates at the park, surprising daddy at work to go for a walk with us, and keeping mom and boy entertained last weekend while daddy was at his men's retreat. And then in the middle of our beautiful weather, we got about 2 in of snow!!  Thankfully it has already melted, but now is chilly and rainy. Last week was a great taste of spring, and I can't wait for it to come back.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know we're still here, in our cozy little home waiting for spring to pop and the flowers to bloom and the sun to shine :).

Mommy's Daily

My husband and the other staff send out "daily" emails to let each other know of their daily schedules and when they'll be in and out of the office. This is my "daily" for today:

4am cranky baby wakes up house. Let him fuss a bit, he usually soothes himself back to sleep.

4:15am give in to cranky baby and go put pacifier back in. Baby goes back to sleep. Mommy goes back to sleep.

4:45am baby wakes up again. Same routine, only daddy's turn.

5am Mommy's turn again. He's not acting hungry, so put in pacifier and go back to sleep.

5:30am Mommy gets him up, notices diaper extremely soaked, changes diaper, rocks baby and rubs baby's back. Bubbles escape baby's diaper...guess they were in his belly and that's why he couldn't sleep. Rocks baby to sleep, uses this time for prayer time and even prays, "Lord, thank you for waking me at this early hour to pray for my friends today before their day begins." mommy realizes now that she was way to happy at that early hour and she would not be feeling that way soon.

6am put baby back in crib.

6:30am here we go again! Daddy attempts to feed baby. baby eats 6oz, goes right back to sleep. Score one for daddy!!! Daddy comes back to the comfy, warm bed.

6:42am...seriously!?!

6:45am Mommy brings in baby's swing, put's it in their bedroom, puts baby in swing and tells him to go night-night already!

7am baby sound asleep.

8am uh-oh. batteries to swing die. but baby is still asleep, so we let him be.

9:30am mommy wakes up and decides to make pancakes to attempt to revive the day. crawls out of bed, stubs "this little piggy had none" into baby's swing. surprisingly doesn't wake up baby! mom mutters under her breath and limps out of room.

10am starts pancakes and coffee.

10:15am pours coffee puts pancakes on plate. searches for syrup. no syrup. out of syrup.

10:30am puts waking baby in his crib to let him stretch. he smiles at me. darn, he's still cute. starts writing this...

11am...remembers her coffee is sitting in its mug on the counter, now cold.

Lord, Give Me Roots to Make Me Strong

(photo taken at Lake Milford, Fall 2008)

...Lord, Give Me Roots to Make Me Strong...

I was up feeding Isaac early this morning and was praying for a friend, and I had this awesome picture, a visual if you will, this thought that (ok, bear with me here) that we we are the tree, planted by God. He is our roots that make us strong, that give us life and fruit and feeds our spirits. The more time I spend with Him, the more I give to Him, the more I turn everything over to Him, the stronger and deeper my roots will be. Then, in the storms, in the rain, from the gentle rains to the fiercest storms that bring my tree bending to the earth, He will be the roots that hold me firm. When we're anxious, when we're having trouble giving it to Him, which I SO OFTEN DO!!!!, then I'm not trusting that He's the one in charge, the one ready to hold me strong and provide for me during that bad weather. I'm trusting on my own strength, and that's when I become weak and bend in the wind. But when I trust Him, he makes me stronger, and I can stand tall and firm in my faith in Him. My tree can grow, it can flourish like the new birth of each beautiful spring, and He'll make my weakest branches strong so that all my songbirds (my friends) will have a place to sit and sing with me, a place to rest in my shade if they need a shoulder, even a place to poop on from time to time (vent) :) as all birds will do ;).

My sisters in faith are like the trees surrounding me, our roots deep and entangled in each other, helping each other to be strong. And together, we're a forest, blocking the wind, providing lush beauty and shade for the lives around us, a branch here and there the swing from, a cozy place to sit and Be Still under.

I know, it sounds kinda weird (granted it is 5am), but I like the thought :). Thank you for sharing your roots with me, my friend :).

Comments

I've had some readers mention that my blog isn't allowing them to leave comments. I'm not sure what's up, but Alan's working on it ;). In the meantime if you wish to leave a comment, feel free to post it on my facebook wall, or email it to jodie@psalm127mom.com.

Picture of the Day

Define addiction.

(in my defense it's not as bad as it may appear. there's the smooth breakfast blend, my 1/2 caff for when I don't require such a mighty morning jolt, hy-vee can is almost gone, the bold french roast for the days I do need a jolt, and the starbucks that was 50% off so I'm trying it out ;). see, not as bad as you thought, right?)
